In Times of Uncertainty, Our Solidarity Becomes More Vital Than Ever
Since 2016, Three Peas has stood alongside displaced people seeking refuge in Greece and across Europe, partnering with grassroots organizations to provide essential material support, housing, community spaces, and hope to those whose lives have been uprooted by war and persecution.
Today, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. The world around us is increasingly marked by political instability, economic pressures, and a pervasive sense of anxiety about the future.
This atmosphere of collective unease has profoundly affected the landscape of humanitarian support. When fear becomes the dominant narrative, empathy often retreats.
We are witnessing a troubling shift: as communities grapple with their own uncertainties, the willingness to extend solidarity to displaced people has diminished. Donations have decreased, volunteers are harder to recruit, and public discourse increasingly frames refugees not as fellow human beings in need, but as burdens or threats.
This erosion of compassion is not accidental—it is fostered by political rhetoric that exploits people’s fears and redirects their frustrations away from systemic failures and toward the most vulnerable among us.
The consequences are dire. Organizations like ours—and countless others working on the ground—are facing severe resource shortages that threaten our very existence. Every day, we see the impact: families unable to access safe housing, children deprived of education, individuals trapped in limbo with no path forward.
When funding dries up, it’s not just our programs that collapse—it’s the entire infrastructure of solidarity and social cohesion that holds our communities together.
Yet this is precisely the moment when our work matters most. The people we serve—refugees and asylum seekers living in precarious conditions across Greece—have not disappeared because the headlines have moved on or because donors feel stretched.
Their need for dignity, safety, and support remains as urgent as ever.
Our partnership with organizations on the ground in Greece is the backbone of everything we do. These relationships—built on trust, mutual respect, and years of collaboration—enable us to respond swiftly to emergencies, provide sustained support to housing projects and community centres, and ensure that every contribution directly improves lives.
From Lesvos to Thessaloniki to Samos to Athens, our partners work tirelessly with limited resources to offer not just material aid, but also the human connection and compassion that remind displaced people they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.
We cannot let this network of care collapse. The challenges we face are not insurmountable—they are choices. We can choose to allow fear to fragment our communities, or we can choose to recognise that our shared humanity demands we stand together.
We can choose to turn away, or we can choose to act with the understanding that a society’s strength is measured not by how it treats those with power and privilege, but by how it protects those without.
We are asking you to choose solidarity. Your support—whether financial, through volunteering, or simply by spreading awareness—sustains this critical work. It keeps housing projects operational, community centres open, emergency aid available, and most importantly, it sends a powerful message that kindness has not been extinguished.
In an era defined by division and anxiety, let us be the generation that refused to abandon our fellow human beings when they needed us most.
The future our displaced neighbours are seeking—safety, stability, the chance to contribute to their communities—is the same future we all hope for. Their struggle is not separate from ours; it is deeply intertwined with the kind of world we want to create.
Please continue to support our work. Help us maintain these vital partnerships. Stand with us in affirming that solidarity is not a luxury to be abandoned in hard times—it is the foundation upon which we must build any hopeful future.
Together, we can ensure that Three Peas and our partners continue making a difference, one person, one family, one community at a time.
Thank you.
